Budeful Loo Roll Christmas Tree

Make a simple Christmas tree from empty loo rolls that we throw away every day.

Here is what you need:

  • A bunch of empty toilet paper rolls (you can also use the rolls from paper towels)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks to go with it
  • Scissors
  • Spray paint (totally optional)
  • A clean empty soup can (optional)

Remove all remnants of paper from the rolls, flatten the rolls and cut into strips about 1” wide, but reserve one roll that you DON’T flatten or cut to make the “trunk” of the tree. Cut each roll in half and then each half in half so that I get four strips in total out of each roll.

Using your hot glue gun and creativity, glue the cut pieces of toilet paper rolls into the shape of a Christmas tree. There is no right or wrong way to do this. As long as it kind of looks like a Christmas tree you are on the right track.

Once you are satisfied with the size of your tree, create a stump by gluing three pieces of strips on the bottom center of the tree that you will then slide your uncut, unflattened toilet paper roll over and hot glue in place. This Christmas tree is only about 10” tall without the star on top, trunk or soup can on the bottom because we wanted it to be able to stand on its own. You could go much bigger and hang it on the wall instead to make the perfect wall centre piece the choice is yours!

You could stop there, or spray paint it any colour you like for that festive vibe. Enjoy this great festive idea.
